An Eye Camp for Senior Citizens was organized at Aagun Sangha Club at Nabagram, Ramkrishna Nagar, on 1st May 2011. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. R.N. Das, President of PDMSS. 52 persons attended the camp conducted by Ophthalmologists and Optometrists. In an era where old people’s homes are on the increase and parents are often neglected, this effort by PDMSS is our expression of solidarity with our senior citizens.
Blood Sugar Testing Camp:
In recent years, lifestyle diseases have made inroads into the rural areas. It is reported that the number of Diabetics in the country is on the increase. The poor people do not have extra money to spend on diagnostic tests. Routine blood sugar tests help early diagnosis and help the person to adopt preventive measures early. A Blood Sugar Testing Camp was organized on 25th march 2013, in collaboration with S.B. Diagnostic Centre, at joy Krishna pally , Purbadwarakepur. The camp was inaugurated by Shri R. Chakraborty, Manager, Bank of India. 55 persons were tested for Blood Sugar.
Medical Camp For Senior Citizens:
More old age homes are being created day by day. Fragmentation of families is a well known phenomena of the modern times. Newspaper columns describe neglect of old persons. PDPMSS organized a free medical camp at panch pota Club ground, Panchpota, Garia, on month of oct 2012, in which 45 senior citizens were examined by doctors.
The Health Ministry has taken up the Pulse Polio Programme on a war footing in order to eradicate this scourge that causes permanent disability. PDPMSS has joined in this movement by conducting Pulse Polio in collaboration with local health authorities.
